The iPad needs to come out with a Blogger app so I can post from my iPad in the living room, much faster than from my phone in the living room... I will just have to suck it up!
Yesterday was a long but fruitful day!
- B completed his first week of treatment, a HUGE step. I'm so proud of him for knocking that milestone over. Thankfully, now he gets a little break for two days.
- B had a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line put in yesterday which will stay in place through December 27th (his scheduled end date for infusions before switching to home injections). The HUGE plus about this PICC line is that he won't have to have an IV in a week at a time (big needle under the skin is not too comfortable as you can imagine), and he won't have to get poked for his twice a week blood draw. He was nervous, understandably, but I'm thankful insurance approved it and he went ahead with it because a little comfort in the middle of all of this goes a long way.
- We were able to get B's treatments moved from Torrey Pines (28.6 miles from our home) to Rancho Bernardo (13.2 miles from our home). Which means saving 15.4 miles one way and 30.8 miles round trip on a daily basis!!!! It is also closer to my usual stomping grounds which means I can get errands done while he is receiving treatment. Oh the possibilities when you are closer to home :)
- I was able to find a milk donor that is willing to give me 13 bags of 4-6oz each! What a blessing! This will make it possible for me to have a family member babysit baby J a few times so I can sit with Brandon during treatment and even get some chores done around the house!
- B was able to get a stronger pain medication prescribed for his reaction to the treatment. It took a little determination and hunting on our part (went to a few pharmacies and called even more) to find a pharmacy with his entire prescription in stock... but we did! And as a result he had a better night last night. Not completely pain free but manageable which is a huge step.
- Baby J was SOOOO good all day. She added many more people to her ever growing fan base and played around on one of her blankets, chatted away to her baby Einstein mirror and had a full fledged feast. No fussing at all (except when she knew food was pending)! We are so beyond blessed by such a little angel. She is definitely helping be a big ray of sunshine through all of this, especially this month.
